The course has been excellent. Dennis is a great communicator and conveyed a lot of knowledge over the 4 week period. Anyone wishing to do anything in this space - I would recommend this course! Practical hands on experience balanced with useful tips. You can tell that Dennis has done this before! It makes the learning more credible. There is a lot to take in and it ultimately does depend what you do with this but as a first step into the world of content creation and appreciating the doors it can open, this is first class.

The material was presented in an easy to understand linear fashion. all the basics were covered with scope for added work in one's own time.
First and foremost, I spent 3 hours in a room with a truly passionate editor and director, who was extremely generous to share his knowledge and experience with his students. I was given technical tools and guidance, which will now enable me to practice, make mistakes, learn. I’d definitely recommend this workshop, I didn't want for it to end. Marketing is no longer about the stuff that you make but about the stories you tell.
There are two types of stories. Approachability stories and authority stories.
You have to learn how to become a master of both if you want to be great at affecting your audience in a way that moves them into action.
It’s becoming harder and harder to stand out. I’ve learned that telling a brand story that is intentionally developed, is an easy way to find success and connect with your audience. The challenge is to create interesting unique stories to generate buzz. Instead of always aiming to sell something, you should aim to teach while telling a story. This positions you as a leader in the space and the people you’re trying to connect with will be more willing to buy.
We're wired for story. In a culture of scarcity and perfectionism, there's a surprisingly simple reason we want to own, integrate, and share our stories of struggle. We do this because we feel the most alive when we're connecting with others and being brave with our stories - it's in our biology.
We love buying things, we love solving our problems but we hate being marketed too. If you want to get your message fully heard, you need to find a way to get their guard down, so they’re actually going to listen to what you have to say. The way to do that is through storytelling. You’re not here to say, “this is why you’re wrong.” You say, “this is why I see where and why you might have gotten confused. Here’s the truth and here’s what you need to move forward.” You’re there to guide them and be that guiding light.
A lot of us spend so much time and energy trying to shove our stuff down other people’s throats and trying to get people to pay attention to what we’re creating. Don’t lead with the product. Lead with the story. Be yourself, and sell yourself and all that you are, all the weirdness and quirkiness and strange stories. That’s what’s going to make it rich and powerful and attractive. People are very attracted to people out here telling the truth, being their honest, vulnerable selves. What’s your story?
Storytelling is by far the most underrated skill when it comes to business.
It starts with your story. That’s your anchor. Who am I? What have I overcome. What have I done? Own that. Then ask yourself who can benefit from this story. There is someone right now who is just like you who can benefit from where you’ve been. Then ask yourself, how can I speak my truth and tell my story to meet them where they are and take them higher. Diversity is currency today.
